Our home for sale here in Ann Arbor, Mi. is a 36' half-round Monolithic Dome with an 18' stemwall. The home features 4 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. It has approx. 2000' of living space not including the basement and third floor. Please note that the taxing authority only recognizes about 1700' for tax purposes saying that there must be some unusable areas ( which there really are not) due to the round shape. Who am I to argue! The house features a full unfinished basement (about 1000') with 8' ceilings and a direct walk-out. There are two main rooms in the basement. One was a playroom for the kids and is now used for storage and the other is a shop. The third area is a mechanical area- boiler( new in 2010) for the hydronic baseboard heat, water softener and water heater tank ( hot water for the tank is produced by the boiler). The first floor (about 1000') has a living room with a high efficient and low emission wood stove, formal dining room, breakfast area,(could be eliminated so as to expand the living room area), kitchen with walk-in pantry ( kitchen has 15+' of counter space and lots of cabinets), the 4th bedroom , and a 1/2 bath. The second floor( about 1000') has three bedrooms (all are a nominal 200ft), a full bath, a laundry room, and two linen closets. The third floor is unfinished and a little over 200'. Access to the third floor is from the master bedroom ( has a 17' ceiling) by way of alternating tred stairs ( Monk stairs). This area could be finished giving you a master suite. ( perhaps a reading room or office) We use this area as a home gym area. This floor also has a direct access to the roof. Cooling for the home is by way of ceiling fans. Windows are Anderson casement windows. Except for two of the bedrooms, all floors on the first and second floors are either ceramic or wood. The 700+' garage is a 34' half round Monolithic dome and is prepped for a large loft. The home is on approx. 2.21 acres between Ann Arbor and Saline Michigan and is in the Saline school district. Though the location is in the country, it is only about 7 minutes to civilization ( Ann Arbor). Depending on the winter, we average between one and two tanks of propane per year. I have been told that that is less than half of what my neighbors are using. This unique, one of a kind home also features a circle drive, large brick paver patio, an invisible fence for dogs, and two approx. 200' pole barns. All this for only $249,000.00. Pictures can be seen on the Monolithic website under "Credit Card Dome". Please note that the wood stove in the picture has been replaced with a more efficient model. The living area no longer has the tall ceilings as the floor was finished at the shelf level shortly after this picture was taken. The patio which cannot be seen is between the house and garage. The bath shown is the 1/2 bath. If you have questions, or interest, please contact Susan Walters at email@example.com.
Thanks, Gary E. Clark
P.S. The reason for this sale is not because we do not like our dome home, we love it. It is so we can move to sunny Texas where we intend to build another Monolithic Dome home.
